More than 5,000 supporters are expected to participate in the JDRF One Walk. The community walk is one of more than 200 nationwide that bring together thousands of people each year who share JDRF’s mission to create a world without type 1 diabetes.

This year is significant as JDRF has merged the Newport and Kings Island walks into one.
“We are excited that, together, the new walk will be one of the biggest in the region, raising nearly $800,000. With the combined commitment of community supporters and business partners, we are confident in meeting our goal and getting one step closer to turn type 1 into type none,” said Nick Wagner, JDRF Southwest Ohio Walk manager.

This year’s walk is chaired by Rich Boehne, board chair, president and CEO of  E.W. Scripps Co.

The walk is approximately two miles, starting and ending outside of Soak City Waterpark.

Elite Partners include Advance Auto Parts, Eli Lilly and Co., Ford Motor C.o, Marshalls, Novo Nordisk and Walgreens. Local corporate partners include Dualite, Kings Island, Messer Construction, Grant Thornton, Scripps and The Standard.
