MYCincinnati looking for ‘teaching artists’

MYCincinnati Summer CampIf you’re a creative type – a musician, artist or just someone whose head is brimming with imaginative ideas – there’s a summer camp  this summer that will pay you to take part.

Technically, the summer camp is for MYCincinnati, the free youth orchestra program in Price Hill that offers kids the chance to experience personal transformation while they learn to play the violin, viola, cello or bass.

For the summer camp, MYCincinnati is seeking “teaching artists” to lead short-term courses. The “teaching artists” don’t actually have to be either teachers or artists, and the classes don’t need to be just about music or art.

The applicants do need to be flexible and energetic, and eager to work with a small group of students ages 7-17 for a few weeks this summer.

The time commitment is for an hour a day Monday-Friday from July 5-15 and/or July 18-28. The classes will be from 2:30-3:30 p.m. or 3:30-4:30 p.m.

Proposals can either be for one nine-day session (plus a final project or performance on the 10th day), or extend from the start of the first session through the end of the second 10-day session.

Compensation is $25 per hour. Applicants need to send a resume, cover letter and description of the idea for their class, including a general outline of activities and goals.

Materials are due to eddy@pricehillwill.org by June 10.
