Rubber Duck Regatta will make a splash

Sunday, Sept. 4, 3 p.m., Ohio River near Serpentine Wall

Get your ducks in order for the 22nd annual Rubber Duck Regatta presented by Dawn. The Sept 4 event will splash off before the Western & Southern/WEBN Fireworks.

That afternoon, as many as 200,000 ducks will swim in the Ohio River near the Serpentine Wall. The winner will receive a new Honda Civic and possibly $1 million, if his or her entry is the Kemba Million Dollar Duck. The second-place finisher will receive $100 from Kroger every week for a year ($5,200 total), and five more winners will receive $500 cash from Kemba. Ducks, which are $5 each or six for $25, are available online. Ducks also will be available at Kroger store checkouts until Sept. 3.

Last year’s regatta netted more than $1 million for the Freestore Foodbank, the equivalent of more than 3 million meals for children in the community. Since its inception in 1995, the regatta has raised approximately $9.3 million to help fight hunger.
