The Children’s Hunger Alliance and the Greater Cincinnati Chapter of the American Culinary Federation teamed up for an event designed to draw attention to the issue of children who cannot count on their next meal. In Hamilton County, more than 40,000 children live in such food-insecure households.

Speaker Tim Heyl of the Cincinnati Recreation Commission discussed the impact of Children’s Hunger Alliance on students who attend the CRC’s after-school programs. There, they can rely on a hot meal at the end of the school day.

More than 150 attendees at the benefit helped raise $28,000 for the two organizations. The evening at the 20th Century Theatre featured 19 chef stations. Winner of the Golden Spoon award for the crowd’s favorite dish was Alfio Gulisano of Alfio’s Buon Cibo.
