America’s next great treasure may be lurking in your attic. Representatives of Cowan’s Antique Roadshow will be on hand to evaluate pieces of art.
Each session will last about 10 minutes, according to Woman’s Art Cultural Center organizers, who hope to make this event an annual fundraiser.
“Cowan’s specialists will evaluate the items, briefly explaining what they are looking for and how they determine the value. They’ll then give you an estimate of how much they would expect it to sell for at an auction,” said Eric Duncan, marketing coordinator for Cowan’s Auctions Inc.
All evaluations are estimates and not official appraisals. Estimates cannot be used for insurance, estate, tax or other legal purposes.
Because of time constraints, the event must limit the entries to paintings, vases, pottery, porcelain, folk art, small furniture, quilts, photographs, silver, glassware, small wood pieces, sketches, and sculptures. Photographs of furniture are acceptable.Participants must be able to comfortably carry their items to the designated area in the room.
Fee: $25. Limit is one item per person. Observing is free.
