Proceeds from the Hyde Park Blast last June have been donated to two local cancer-fighting charities.

A check for $55,000 was presented to Brooke Desserich, co-founder of The Cure Starts Now, an organization that funds research for pediatric brain cancer.
The Shemenski Foundation received $10,000. In 2012, the Shemenski Foundation teamed with the UC Brain Tumor Center, and has funded multiple pilot grants for promising brain cancer research.

Registration is open for this year’s Hyde Park Blast, which will be on Saturday, June 25. The full day of activities includes a 4-mile morning run/walk through Hyde Park, a kids race, criterium cycling races on Hyde Park Square, and a family-friendly block party with live music in the evening.
