Dr. Tyrone Tillery, a U.S. history scholar, will speak as part of a community lecture series in celebration of African American History Month.

A professor at the University of Houston, he will take part in a program of the Center for Closing the Health Gap, a Cincinnati nonprofit dedicated to promoting awareness of health disparities. An expert in African-American and civil rights history, as well as an award-winning author, Tillery will address the topic “Equal Opportunity: Myth or Reality?”

The Health Gap plans to make its lecture series an annual event, inviting the Cincinnati community to address key issues around diversity and inclusion. The event is free and open to the public, but reservations are requested.
