Ohio River Paddlefest returns with new organizers

Saturday, Aug. 6; Schmidt Recreation Complex

The Ohio River Paddlefest is changing organizers, dates and locations for the 15th annual event that brings thousands of canoes and kayaks to the river.

The nonprofit Outdoor Adventure Clubs of Greater Cincinnati is the new Paddlefest sponsor and beneficiary. Proceeds support OACGC’s mission to get more urban teens out into nature all year round.

The 8.9-mile course stretches from Schmidt Recreation Complex to Gilday Riverside Park. Camp sites will be available at Schmidt Recreation Complex on Friday, Aug. 5.

Paddlers will experience the Ohio River, view the downtown bridges and skyline, take part in a halfway party in Covington, and explore the Licking River and the Mill Creek. The Ohio River will be closed to barge and motorized boat traffic during Paddlefest.

Food trucks, beer, music and vendors will be waiting at the Finish Line Festival. “Early Bird” registration discounts are available.
