“My Big Fat Italian Gala” was a big success for The Good Samaritans, raising $500,000 for Good Samaritan Hospital’s new Concussion Management Program.

Proceeds will fund state-of-the-art equipment for concussion testing. The program will serve athletes in elementary school, high school, select sports, and college. The event proceeds will also support Good Samaritan Free Health Center and the Medical Education Research Fund.

More than 630 supporters of Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation gathered at the Hyatt Regency for the cocktail reception and gourmet Italian dinner, followed by the chance to don blinking hats, sunglasses, bracelets, and rings before taking to the dance floor.  They were treated to a limoncello bar, late night pizza, gelato bar, and activities such as Create Your Own Chef Hat and Apron, palm readers, and a photo booth.

Gala chair Cindy Rodriguez and co-chair Sarah Klein worked with a  committee of volunteers and physician champion Emily Dixon, DO to promote the gala in the medical and business community.

Substantial underwriting and sponsorships played a major role in the gala’s success. Good Samaritan Hospital Medical and Dental Staff underwrote the musical entertainment. Other corporate sponsors included:  AK Steel Corporation, Fifth Third Bank, Macy’s, Phillips Supply Co., SC Ministry Foundation, and Seven Hills Anesthesia – Obstetrics Division.
