The Art League of Cincinnati conducted a recruitment meeting Feb. 28 to engage a new generation in its mission of documenting, preserving and enhancing artwork in Cincinnati Public Schools. The event included a discussion of the importance of getting art back into the public schools after the last decade of renovations and rebuilding.
The organization, established in 1903 and run by volunteers, is looking for future trustees, committee members and committee chairs in the areas of event planning, inventory, accounting, membership development, marketing and communications.
Much of the artwork in Cincinnati Public Schools was purchased through the Art League with pennies collected by schoolchildren.
The current board includes Grace Royalty, president; Jeni Eckman, vice president; Mary Ran, treasurer; Jane Gardner, secretary; and Bob Flischel, board member.
The board meets at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of the month at the old Clifton Elementary School, now home to the Clifton Cultural Arts Center.
