A young chess player’s dream scene

Chess champions of all stripes filled Paul Brown Stadium Club for the 15th annual Queen City Chess Tournament hosted by the Cris Collinsworth ProScan Fund.

They included international chess grandmasters, Ugandan chess prodigy Phiona Mutesi, whose life story is about to be featured in a Disney film, and hundreds of talented young chess players (grades K-12) there to compete. Friday night featured Collinsworth as emcee, chess experts taking on 36 comers at once, and presentation of the Shining Knight Award to Mutesi and her coach Robert Katende for their efforts to transform lives through chess.
