Assistance League Books & Brunch to feature local authors

Wednesday, June 8, 10:30 a.m., Cincinnati Woman’s Club

Here’s your chance to meet local authors, enjoy champagne punch as you browse and bid on auction items, and savor brunch, all for a good cause.

The Assistance League of Cincinnati will sponsor its 14th annual Books & Brunch. It is a benefit for the group’s philanthropic programs, including Operation School Bell, Trauma Care and New Beginnings.

This year’s books and authors are:

“Teddy Kremer Stealing First: The Teddy Kremer Story,” written with Diane Lang and Michael Buchanan. Teddy Kremer, an adult with Down syndrome, has been a guest bat boy for the Cincinnati Reds and is known for his cheery effect on the team. He has spoken at multiple fundraisers, was an honorary co-chair for the Cincinnati ReelAbilities Film Fest 2015 and will be part of a film this summer, both as an actor and producer.

“The Royal Nanny,” by Karen Harper, a true story about rearing the royal children of King George V, to be released this June. It is among 70 series and novels by this historical and contemporary fiction author. A native Ohioan, she is a New York Times and USA Today best-selling author known for her focus on the Amish culture and Tudor England.

“The Findlay Market Cookbook,” by Bryn Mooth, celebrating the food, people and enduring legacy of Findlay Market. She is the author and editor of Edible Ohio Valley, the quarterly magazine spotlighting local, healthy, seasonal foods. She is a freelance writer and founder of Writes4Food.

“The Little Kids’ Table,” by Mary Ann Riehle, inspired by her children and their cousins and based on trips back home to Cincinnati to visit family and friends. A graduate of Xavier University, she is an educator and featured speaker at numerous events. She has published five books with Sleeping Bear Press, as well as numerous Discover America State by State Alphabet Books.

The Bookshelf in Madeira is the book sponsor for the event.

Guests will have the opportunity to purchase books and meet the authors, get autographs, and participate in a silent auction and basket raffle. Tickets are $60 and $125.
