Heartland Trans Wellness Group has opened a lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, pansexual, intersex and asexual community center. The new Heartland Wellness Center, 103 William Howard Taft Road, is in a secular space being leased from Mount Auburn Presbyterian Church. The facility initially will have scheduled programming and events, with drop-in availability increasing as the volunteer roster expands.
Heartland director Jonah Yokoyama said that in addition “the center will offer monthly events such as game nights and other social gatherings to provide LGBTQPIA people opportunities to build connections and community. LGBTQPIA folks experience family rejection and marginalization at high rates. We hope to create a space where people feel safe, connected and supported.”
