Beech Acres Parenting Center honored foster parents at its annual Foster Parent Appreciation Dinner. The May 6 event, which took place at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden, included dinner, an awards ceremony and music. Each foster family in attendance received a gift basket.
Hamilton County has 800 to 900 children in foster care placements on any given day. Beech Acres Foster Care program provides homes for roughly 60 of these children, with plans to double its capacity.
Nearly 100 foster parents attended the event, including families who received five-year service awards, several families with more than 20 years of service.
Foster-to-adopt families from the past year also were recognized.
