Montgomery Woman’s Club announces 54th lecture series

Wednesdays, Oct. 5, Nov. 9, March 8 and April 5, 8 p.m., Sycamore Junior High School
Thursdays, Oct. 6, Nov. 10, March 9 and April 6, 11 a.m., Montgomery Assembly of God

The Montgomery Woman’s Club has announced the lineup for the 54th Town Hall Lecture Series. Speakers will be:

  • Oct. 5-6 – Gen. Wesley Clark, author and former NATO supreme allied commander. He is the author of three best-selling books, including “Don’t Wait for the Next War,” which identifies a national strategy to tackle America’s challenges.
  • Nov. 9-10 – Mitch Albom, author, philanthropist and award-winning sports reporter. He is known for  “Tuesdays with Morrie” and “The Magic Strings of Frankie Pesto,” and his books have sold more than 35 million copies. But Albom’s first love is music. He plays several instruments and is in a band with several other well-known authors.
  • March 8-9 – Katie Laur, Queen Bee of Cincinnati Bluegrass and host of  WNKY Radio’s  “Music from the Hills of Home.” Laur, who will play guitar during her lecture, was one of the original musicians on “A Prairie Home Companion.” She has played the Kennedy Center and traveled to Russia as a music ambassador.
  • April 5-6 – Melissa Gilbert, actress and president of the Screen Actors Guild. Gilbert, who played Laura Ingalls on “Little House on the Prairie,” also has appeared in several Broadway productions and acted in a variety of TV shows and movies. She is the national spokesperson for the Partnership for Drug Free Kids.
