First Step Home held its most successful gala to date at the Cincinnati Woman’s Club, where sponsors, donors and friends helped raise more than $50,000.

The Rose Gala Award Dinner program was hosted by WKRC-TV Local 12’s Liz Bonis. Featured speaker Leslie Hawkins, a mother in recovery, shared her personal journey at the center.

For over 20 years, First Step Home has provided a treatment center for women struggling with opiate addiction. It is the only center in the city where mothers and their young children can stay together.

Award recipients included Bloomfield/Schon, corporate achievement; Mark Schoeny, Individual achievement; Zeta Phi Beta sorority, community achievement; and a posthumous lifetime award to Terry Schoenling, a longtime employee and friend.

Funds raised at the event will be used to help renovate both the kitchen in the main treatment facility and the newly named Terry Schoenling Home for Mothers and Infants.
