Every year, St. Vincent de Paul collects new fans and air conditioners for people with chronic illnesses, the very young and the elderly, who are most at risk from high summer temperatures. A donation from the E. Thomas Arington Foundation provided for 100 fans and 100 air conditioners, but more fans and air conditioners are needed.
The next distribution is set for July 20 at St. Vincent de Paul’s Liz Carter Outreach Center on Bank Street. The goal is to collect enough money to provide 700 fans and 300 air conditioners this summer.
A gift of $15 provides a fan; $115 will purchase an air conditioner. Donors can make a financial gift by phone, online or at any Greater Cincinnati Huntington Bank location. New fans and air conditioners may be dropped off at any of the seven St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Stores. By state law, the donated fans and air conditioners must be new. Recipients of air conditioners must show proof of medical need and a photo ID.
