Two longtime CET volunteers have been honored by the National Friends of Public Broadcasting. Barbara Kellar received the Outstanding Volunteer Leadership Award, and Sharon Roehm won the Distinguished Service Award.
Kellar connected with CET as a volunteer during the station’s first Action Auction nearly 50 years ago. She and husband Larry serve on multiple committees and have opened their home for many CET events. In front of the camera, she hosts “Showcase with Barbara Kellar,” CET’s weekly arts and cultural series, which continues to air today.
Roehm, a volunteer herself, has been CET’s full-time volunteer coordinator for 14 years. Her service began in the mid-1990s when she accompanied husband Chris as a volunteer with the CET Action Auction. When she retired as a registered nurse, she started volunteering for other jobs at the station, and the rest is history.
The awards were presented in May at the PBS annual meeting in Chicago.
