New app helps connect homeless to services

Street Reach, an app developed at Northern Kentucky University, uses technology to connect homeless people to needed services. Using location-based technology, it allows folks in the community a way to report where homeless people are sleeping outdoors and make sure they are offered assistance to get back into housing. It also allows people experiencing homelessness to reach out for help.

The app is a result of collaboration between NKU, the university’s Center for Applied Informatics and Strategies to End Homelessness. The free Street Reach app is available both on Google Play and in the iOS Apple Store.
