Saturday, Sept. 17, 6 p.m, Behringer-Crawford Museum, Covington
Whether you are a serious art collector or casual browser, freshART 2016 is a chance to acquire one-of-a-kind original works. Behringer-Crawford Museum’s signature event is a party with a purpose. Dozens of the area’s best artists will spend the day in Devou Park creating art en plein air, which will be auctioned at the freshART gala that evening to benefit the museum’s youth education programs.
This is the 24th year the museum has hosted freshART, which includes a cocktail reception, art preview and dinner catered by McHale’s Events and Catering in the museum’s outdoor amphitheater.
Chairing the 2016 event are Carla Landon, marketing and communications manager for the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, and Tara Johnson, manager of development services for the Catalytic Fund in Covington.
The gala includes two auctions: the fun (and often feisty) live auction of freshART creations, and a silentART auction of previously completed works and other art-related items.
For the first time this year, a sneak preview of silentART items will take place from 5-7 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 3, at the museum. Guests will be able to place early bids, meet some of the artists and enjoy light refreshments, then head over to a 7:30 p.m. performance of the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra at the Devou Park concert bowl.
Tickets to the gala are $100.
