Thur., Oct. 6, 11 a.m., Montgomery Assembly of God

Wesley K. Clark, a retired four-star Army general, will be the lead-off speaker for the 54th Town Hall Lecture Series sponsored by Montgomery Woman’s Club.

Clark has received many honors, including the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart and the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor. In his book, “Don’t Wait for the Next War,” he argues for a new American strategy based on global leadership, sustainable growth and a deeper perspective. He also addresses what he sees as the five challenges – terrorism, cyber-security, the U.S. financial system, China and climate change – and how to reverse them.

Tickets are $45 for a single lecture or $140 for the series, which includes Mitch Albom (Nov. 9-10), Katie Laur (March 8-9) and Melissa Gilbert (April 5-6).
