Greenacres hosts ‘Evening at the Races’

The Greenacres Equine Center hosted “An Evening at the Races” at the Greenacres Arts Center manor house.

The annual event raises funds for the Stablemates program, which provides opportunities for at-risk youth to participate in horseback riding camps at the center.

Youth from Boys & Girls Clubs, Boys Hope Girls Hope, St. Joseph Orphanage, Glad House, CISE schools and Pro Kids have attended these summer camps directed by Jessy Wojtkiewicz.

Marlin Ach founded the “Horsing Around” fundraising program to support Stablemates and has chaired the fundraiser since 2009.

Guests were greeted by the Greenacres Pony Clubbers, who lined the driveway on horseback. Guests then enjoyed dinner by the bite from Creations by Melody, music by Bobby Sharp’s Jazz Group, a raffle and split the pot. WLW’s Jack Crumley drew the winning tickets for a trip to Keeneland and for season tickets to the Bengals.
