Summerfair kicks off year-long 50th anniversary celebration

Summerfair Cincinnati, one of the country’s oldest art fairs, is marking its 50th anniversary with a year-long celebration of art.

The celebration kicked off in September with an Artists Street Fair in conjunction with the Mount Adams Art Walk, and it will continue in 2017 with the Summerfair Select exhibition April 8-23 and the 50th Anniversary Summerfair set for June 2-4 at Coney Island.

Summerfair will exhibit all the past Summerfair posters at the Weston Gallery downtown April 8-23. Also at the Weston will be Summerfair Select, an exhibition of 12 Cincinnati-area artists who received Summerfair Aid to Individual Artists Awards from 2013 to 2015. Participants include Andrew Au, Lisa Hueil Conner, Guy Michael Davis and Katie Parker, Cindy Hamann, Emily Moores, Kevin J. Muente, Sara Pearce, Dana Saulnier, Christian D. Schmit, John Sousa, Tina Tammaro and Dan Vance.

Summerfair Cincinnati supports individual artists and small arts organizations through scholarships, awards and exhibitions. Its annual fine arts fair, the organization’s primary fundraiser, consistently ranks among the Top 200 art shows nationally. This year it will feature more than 300 artists representing 12 categories of art.
