Lynda O’Connor, Spirit of Scouting and Fort Hamilton District chair, John Boehner and Don Crain

John Boehner, former speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, was honored at the Spirit of Scouting Award Banquet. Hosted by the Dan Beard Council, Boy Scouts of America, the event took place Sept. 22 at the Oscar Event Center in Fairfield.

Boehner grew up in Reading and later moved to West Chester.
The award recognizes an individual for outstanding character and the embodiment of the Scout oath and law in daily life. The dinner is the main fundraising event in the Boy Scouts’ Fort Hamilton District.

Doug Bolton of Cushman & Wakefield served as emcee. The planning committee included chair Lynda O’Connor, co-chair Kathy Schwable, Dave Bruno, Erin Clemons, Don Crain, Matt Ferguson, George Lang, Christine Matacic, Ian Murray and Troy Schwable.
