STEM projects get infusion of support

Duke Energy is challenging teachers to make science, technology, engineering and math more engaging, and they are challenging the community to help them put money behind it.

The Classroom Crowdfunding Challenge is a partnership between the Duke Energy Foundation and DonorsChoose.org to help public school teachers introduce engaging STEM projects into their classrooms.

Here’s how it works: Public school teachers can submit STEM project proposals (up to $2,000 per project) on DonorsChoose.org. Anyone can visit DonorsChoose.org, browse eligible projects and donate. Duke Energy will match donations, dollar for dollar, up to $200,000. Once a project is fully funded, DonorsChoose.org buys the project materials and ships them directly to the school.

Duke Energy’s commitment, along with crowd-sourced funds, will provide $400,000 worth of STEM education projects to public schools in Greater Cincinnati.
