Guests will hear about the role King Records played in the development of several styles of American music, as well as the story of saving its studio from demolition. The broad-based coalition included former King Records musicians, Evanston community leaders and advocates for preserving the history of music in Cincinnati.
In 2008, Stewart declared to journalist Rick Bird, “There was never a more important piece of real estate musically or culturally in the history of popular music. King brought together a diverse range of American voices that reflect Cincinnati’s unique geographical position as a crossroads of American culture. Rhythm and blues, country, bluegrass, rockabilly, pop and blues records all poured out of King’s studios.”
Tickets are $50.
