A Friends and Funds Raiser event will help support the Tandana Foundation, a nonprofit that sponsors community initiatives in Ecuador and Mali.

Tandana founder Anna Taft and her parents, Hope and Bob Taft, will host.

The event is the first major foray into Cincinnati by the Dayton-based charity. The goal of the event is to spread awareness of Tandana in the Tafts’ former hometown, while raising scholarship and project money.

“Tandana means ‘unite’ or ‘bring together’ in Ecuador’s Kichwa language,” said Hope Taft. “This is Cincinnati’s opportunity to partner with us and local organizations to build self-reliance, dignity and hope for a better future.”

The fundraiser features a raffle and an auction with items such as special experiences, indigenous artwork and clothing hand-selected by the Tafts. Guests also will find appetizers and a cash bar.
