Premiere: Sunday, Nov. 18, 7 p.m., 21c Museum Hotel
21c Museum Hotel is teaming with Cincinnati Soundbox to host a series of contemporary chamber music concerts intended to foster interaction among composers, performers and the audience.
This series will feature vocal and instrumental musicians from the Queen City and beyond, plus a 20-minute, preconcert talk to prepare audience ears for the new music to come.
“At 21c Cincinnati, we are looking forward to highlighting the depths of the musical talent pool in our city. The way that Cincinnati SoundBox is set up – creating contemporary music with classical instruments – is a complement to the contemporary artwork exhibited at 21c, and I believe the two art forms mirror each other well,” said Michael Hurst, 21c Museum manager.
The November performance will feature guitarist Neil Beckmann in several new works. The April performance will feature mezzo-soprano Lauren McAllister, soprano Jackie Stevens and mezzo-soprano Melisa Bonetti. A final performance in May will showcase the trio of percussionist Yongyun Zhang, double bassist Kate Alexandra and mezzo-soprano McAllister.
