A State of Cancer Forum on Oct. 15 will update the community on the disease’s impact in Greater Cincinnati. As part of the event, local medical professionals will offer free health screenings to residents.
The forum starts at 10 a.m. at the Holloman Center for Social Justice on Reading Road. UC Health will present the latest cancer statistics and trends affecting the region. A moderated panel discussion led by the Health Collaborative will follow, featuring key partners in cancer education, awareness and advocacy who will discuss their efforts to promote community action and advance cancer research and resources in Hamilton County.
After the forum, the 513Relief Bus will travel to 3458 Reading Rd. from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to provide critical cancer screenings and health services. Hamilton County Public Health’s mobile health bus will offer lung cancer pre-screening, HPV self-collection kits, and prostate and head/neck cancer screenings. The event will also feature health services from the Pink Ribbon Good Trailer, AmeriHealth and Healthy Moms and Babes.
Free mammograms are available courtesy of the UC Health’s own health bus. Those interested must register in advance; call 513-584-PINK to schedule a mammogram.
