Cincinnati Association for the Blind & Visually Impaired has rolled out a new Mobile Vision Resources Van to reach more people in need across the region.
Founded in 1911, CABVI provides comprehensive services for people of all ages who are blind or visually impaired. The nonprofit helps over 4,000 people annually adapt to vision loss in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.
This speciality vehicle will allow the agency’s low vision optometrist and therapist to offer services who are unable to make it to its Gilbert Avenue headquarters.
CABVI plans to bring the van to local health fairs, informational events, senior facilities and community recreational facilities. It’s going to focus on 37 zip codes identified as areas with specific financial needs and/or underserved populations. These neighborhoods include urban and rural settings in the organization’s 11-county service area.
“We are so grateful to our generous donors who have helped us bring this CABVI strategic plan project to life,” Aaron Bley, CABVI’s chief mission officer, wrote in a statement. “The agency is thrilled to be able to further our mission to empower individuals who are blind or visually impaired by providing better assistance through mobile vision screenings, resource guides, agency information and more.
