The Cincinnati Art Museum is looking for floral artists for the 2025 Art in Bloom exhibition next April.
Museum leaders encourage professional, aspiring and hobby artists from around the globe to apply to take part in this celebration of fine art and floral creations. Those interested in participating must complete and submit an online application by Jan. 10, 2025. A juried process will decide the final artists.
The Cincinnati Art Museum will notify selected artists in late January. Those picked will need to attend an informational meeting.
Art in Bloom 2025 will take place April 24–27, 2025.
“The floral artistry achieved during the 2024 Art in Bloom event was incredibly exciting. Opening up the borders for floral artists to participate regardless of location and regardless of skill level and background truly diversified the resulting floral creations,” noted Ann M. Keeling, Cincinnati Art Museum chair of Art in Bloom 2025.
April flowers bring large audiences
Art in Bloom is typically held once every two years. But the Cincinnati Art Museum decided to bring it back after only a year.
The previous exhibition, last hosted in spring 2024, featured the work and input of Natasja Sadi, an Amsterdam-based floral artist. Sadi’s arrangements, inspired by Dutch masters and crafted from both fresh and photorealistic sugar flowers, often find their home in Delftware vessels.
“It was very rewarding to see such a diverse audience attending the wide array of Art in Bloom events over the four-day weekend,” Keeling said. “And even more activations aimed at inclusivity and excitement are planned for 2025.”
During the next spring’s event, visitors will be able to enjoy the florists’ creations throughout the galleries and grounds at no cost during regular museum hours. Art in Bloom will also offer special programs and activities, including a drag brunch featuring Laganja Estranja, a celebrated performer known for her music and choreography.
Art in Bloom 2025 will also feature Alexis Nikole Nelson, also known as @Blackforager. Born in Cincinnati, Nelson is a forager and outdoor educator who uses her platform to educate audiences about edible plants hiding in plain sight as well as African American and Indigenous food traditions that have historically been repressed.
