GivingTuesday: NKY firm to match up to $10K in donations to Ion Center

Emboss, a commercial architecture firm in Newport, has agreed to match up to $10,000 in donations to the Ion Center for Violence Prevention as part of GivingTuesday on Dec. 3.

GivingTuesday, known as a Global Day of Giving, aims to inspire generosity around the world, with a common mission to build a world where generosity is part of everyday life.

This year, Emboss has a partnership with Ion Center to financially support its mission to protect and support survivors of power-based personal violence, whether it’s sexual or intimate partner violence. The Covington nonprofit also works on violence prevention initiatives.

Those interested in taking part in the matching grant can do so on Ion Center’s website.

“The Ion Center must exist,” said Emma Adkisson, Emboss CEO. “For many victims of power-based personal violence this is their only outlet to safety. (Ion Center provides) victim-survivors so many services. So much compassion, care and dignity.

“I am really excited to donate this year with the goal of having a grassroots movement of more people honoring and supporting the Ion Center’s work in the world.”

A partnership years in the making

The GivingTuesday partnership is an extension of previous collaborations between Ion Center and Emboss. In the past they’ve partnered on projects such as rebuilding and redesigning Ion Center’s third-floor office space on Madison Avenue and an overall enhancement of the historic building.

Christy Burch, Ion Center CEO, described Adkisson and her team as breathing “new life into our building and how we’re able to provide services to our clients.”

“Emboss has continued to support Ion Center in so many ways, and we are thrilled they’ve chosen to donate in this way,” she added. “We’re grateful to Emma and the whole Emboss team for what they continue to do to support Ion Center and all the survivors we serve.”
