Baker Hunt Art and Cultural Center is expanding its family scholarships program to make free art or cooking classes available to those in need throughout the year.
Established in 1922, Baker Hunt is a Covington-based nonprofit that offers professional instruction in nearly all art media, serving more than 3,500 students from school age to adult through art, cooking and movement classes and workshops each year.
Through the scholarship program, selected families facing financial hardship can sign up for a variety of one-time workshops or multiple week classes free of charge. Classes offered are for youth, adults and even some classes for an adult and child to take together.
Moving forward, the arts organization plans to award these scholarships on a quarterly basis. Additional details available online.
“Baker Hunt strives to make art and education available to all,” the organization wrote in a release.
These opportunities are made possible by the generous donations and support of local organizations, including the recently received grant from the Charles H. Dater Foundation.
