The Charles H. Dater Foundation awarded a grant of more than $25,000 to Cincinnati Cares to support vital technology upgrades, enabling it to better serve the community.
Cincinnati Cares, an organization focused on building and enhancing the Greater Cincinnati region’s volunteer ecosystem, hosts a comprehensive guide to the region’s nonprofit sector on its core website, CincinnatiCares.org.
Although the core website remained strong, the board-matching and skills-based platforms, Board Connect and Skills Connect, have required upgrades for several years.
This new funding will address these needs. Cincinnati Cares said the amount was more than $25,000 but the exact figure wasn’t immediately available.
Once complete, the enhanced board platform will integrate seamlessly with the core website, efficiently facilitating online board connections. When combined with Cincinnati Cares’ Board Bootcamp and Board Connect in-person events, community members interested in board services will easily connect with nonprofits that need them.
The skills-based volunteerism platform will also receive an update, enabling it to integrate more effectively with the core website. This will allow nonprofits in need of business skill sets to connect with volunteers wanting to engage.
According to Lauren Merten, executive director of Cincinnati Cares, the planned upgrade will create the most robust skills-based volunteerism portal in our region. The upgraded system will debut later this year, 2025.
“We are deeply grateful to the Dater Foundation for their belief in our mission and their investment in our future,” Merten said. “These technology upgrades will empower us to serve Greater Cincinnati’s nonprofits more effectively and make a lasting difference in our community.
