An Art Academy of Cincinnati alumna, Sarah Stolar, is returning home to serve as her alma mater’s executive director of academic affairs and academic dean.
A Cincinnati native, Stolar earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting from the Art Academy before going on to a complete an MFA in new genres at the San Francisco Art Institute.
Over time, Stolar has developed into an accomplished interdisciplinary artist, recognized for her evocative work in painting, multimedia installation, film, and performance art. Beyond her artistic accomplishments, Stolar brings nearly two decades of academic leadership experience, including her recent role as chair of the Department of Fine Arts, Film, and Digital Media at the University of New Mexico–Taos.
According to AAC, Stolar’s dedication to mentorship and fostering student growth has been a cornerstone of her career, making her a perfect fit for the position. The Over-the-Rhine-based university noted that her background aligns perfectly with AAC’s mission to inspire and cultivate creative leaders.
Stolar tenure will begin during the 2025 academic year. A specific start date wasn’t made available.
