The Cultural Centre of India is set to bring back its More Trees volunteer initiative to Southwest Ohio in 2025.
For over 30 years, the Cincinnati-based organization has worked to support local art and environmental efforts through a mix of cultural events, including movie nights, cooking classes, and henna stencil art classes.
In collaboration with Ohio Valley Forest Festival Trees, a volunteer-run nonprofit, the initiative aims to distribute approximately 16,000 free tree saplings. The saplings will be provided to third-grade students, libraries, community organizations and businesses as part of an effort to restore and expand the region’s tree canopy.
The goal of the initiative seeks to promote environmental sustainability by purifying the air, enriching the soil, protecting waterways, and creating habitats for wildlife, according to the organization.
Volunteers can participate in tree bagging events across the Greater Cincinnati area, including parts of Kentucky and Indiana. Various dates are available for sign-ups at SignupGenius.
