“The YWCA’s motto is ‘lift as you climb,’ and these ten women embody that mission,” said Rickell Howard Smith, the organization’s president and CEO. “Now, we are honored to lift these women up, celebrating not only their successes, but highlighting how each uses her success as a platform for change, helping us toward our goal of eliminating racism and empowering women.”

Supporting the community

Founded in 1868, YWCA Greater Cincinnati offers direct services, empowerment programs, and advocacy to support marginalized individuals and families, with a focus on women and girls of color. The organization also works to end structural barriers to equity.

The Career Women of Achievement event is the organization’s largest annual fundraiser. The proceeds directly fund community-wide programs in safety, racial justice and inclusion, and empowerment and economic advancement.

In 2024, the YWCA provided help to over 13,000 women, men, and children through a range of direct services, including community trainings and the 24/7 domestic violence hotline. The organization also hosted several community programs focused on racial justice and inclusion, which included direct service, issue education, and advocacy.
