Local nonprofit hosts free financial literacy class for teens

From Fatherless to Fearless is hosting a new, free event to make financial education interactive and engaging for teens.

The inaugural What’s the Scoop? event will take place Saturday, March 8, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Hirsch Recreation Center in Avondale. Aimed at youth ages 13 to 18, the What’s the Scoop? event transforms traditional financial literacy lessons into fun, hands-on activities led by industry experts from Wright-Patt Credit Union. Participants can also sign up for summer jobs during the event.

The overall goal is to promote financial stability and reduce poverty in Greater Cincinnati, according to Candice Crear, founder and CEO of From Fatherless to Fearless, a local nonprofit dedicated to empowering and equipping girls with strained or absent father relationships.

Participants will receive lunch and a cash reward for attending. All attendees must register at Scoop2025.eventbrite.com.

“We are elated to be partnering with Wright-Patt Credit Union and the Cincinnati Recreation Commission to support youth on their financial journey,” Crear said.
