Cincinnati Ballet unveils lineup for 2025-26

Cincinnati Ballet has announced its 2025-2026 season, which will be the first under new permanent artistic director Cervilio Miguel Amador.

The six-production season opens Sept. 12-20, at the Aronoff Center’s Jarson-Kaplan Theatre with The KAPLAN NEW WORKS Series, featuring four world premieres from choreographers Yoshihisa Arai, Caroline Dahm, Andonis Foniadakis and Andrea Giselle Schermoly.

Fans of the local creative work will be mostly familiar with that quartet. Arai is director of Cincinnati Ballet’s Second Company, CB2, and previously choreographed for the Cincinnati Opera, Colorado Ballet and Joffrey Ballet. Dahm, based in Los Angeles, has created works for Cincinnati Ballet, SALT Contemporary Dance and Lyric Opera of Kansas City, among others. Schermoly, originally from South Africa, has choreographed for Royal New Zealand Ballet, Cincinnati Ballet, and Kansas City Ballet. Foniadakis, a Greek-born choreographer, is the only one who hasn’t worked in Cincinnati before. Foniadakis resume includes the Martha Graham Dance Company, Sydney Dance Company and Washington Ballet.

Cincinnati Ballet’s annual presentation of “The Nutcracker,” presented by Sheakley Family, will run Dec. 18-28, 2025, at Music Hall. The production will feature Tchaikovsky’s score performed live by the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.

“Swan Lake” will be performed Feb. 13-21, 2026, at Music Hall. The production will feature choreography by Marius Petipa, Lev Ivanov, and Kirk Peterson, with live music from the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.

The season will close with “Pinocchio,” a one-hour, narrated ballet, at the Aronoff Center, April 16-19, 2026. The production will feature CB2 dancers and young performers from the Otto M. Budig Academy.
