Urban League names new head of Holloman Center

The Urban League of Greater Southwestern Ohio has named Cincinnati native Treva Reid as the new executive director of the Holloman Center for Social Justice.

Reid, a former city council member in Oakland, California, brings extensive experience in legislative policymaking, economic development and public safety reform. She authored more than 100 legislative measures during her tenure, advancing initiatives in affordable housing, workforce training and community-led violence prevention programs.

ULGSO described Reid as instrumental in securing a $100 million Rise East Oakland initiative to address systemic inequities and helping launch one of the nation’s largest guaranteed income pilots aimed at eliminating racial wealth disparities.

Reid’s career also includes leadership roles at Pacific Gas & Electric, the California State Assembly and Ford Motor Company, where she focused on strategic planning, stakeholder engagement and corporate-community partnerships.

“We are thrilled to welcome Treva Reid to the Urban League family,” said Christie Kuhns, ULGSO’s president and CEO.

“Her background in public service, policy advocacy and community engagement makes her the perfect person to continue the impactful work of the Holloman Center,” Kuhns continued. “Treva’s strong ties to Cincinnati and leadership will significantly strengthen our efforts to promote equity and economic empowerment for all.”

Important experience for Holloman Center

Founded in 2020, the Holloman Center focuses on fostering collaborative police reform efforts in Southwestern Ohio, aiming to bridge the gap between communities and police departments. The center also engages in policy advocacy, data collection, community education and organizing to promote justice.

In her new role, Reid will lead the Holloman Center’s work on critical social justice issues, including police reform, voter suppression and economic equity. She will collaborate with municipalities, grassroots organizations and strategic partners to drive impactful change.

“My entire career has focused on uplifting others, securing equitable investments, unlocking access to opportunities and advancing just outcomes for all to thrive,” Reid said. “I’m excited to help expand the Center’s impact and deepen community engagement.”
