Manifest Gallery is seeking submissions for two upcoming exhibitions, inviting artists to explore themes of spontaneity and the relationship between text and imagery.
The Cincinnati-based nonprofit, needs artists for its upcoming exhibitions, “Whim” and “Textuality,” which will both run from July 11 to Aug. 8.
Exploring play and impulse
“Whim” calls for works that embrace playfulness, unpredictability and fantasy. Organizers describe whimsy as an instinctive, unfiltered reaction – sometimes joyful, sometimes capricious, but always unbound by convention. The deadline to apply is March 29.
Language as image
“Textuality” will feature works that incorporate text or letter forms, highlighting the intersection of visual and written communication. Artists should submit pieces that engage with language in unconventional or abstract ways, according to Manifest Gallery. The deadline for entries is March 30.
Artists can submit up to three works for a $45 entry fee, with additional submissions for $5 each. Selected artists will receive a $50 honorarium, and all exhibited works will be eligible for a $1,000 Grand Jury Award. Works may be listed for sale, with artists receiving 70% of proceeds.
