High school and college students with a passion for video gaming will have a chance to turn their skills into career opportunities at a new employment fair hosted by Easterseals Redwood and Cincinnati Fear, an esports team and company.
The Game to Career: Esports Employment Fair will take place Tuesday, May 6, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the University of Cincinnati’s Esports Lab, 2900 Reading Rd. The event will introduce students to careers in drone technology, cybersecurity and IT services, highlighting how gaming skills can translate into real-world professions.
Participants will have the chance to play video games, meet local employers and learn about job paths that reward the cognitive and strategic thinking gamers develop through esports.
“This event represents a unique opportunity for students to leverage their gaming skills for real-world career opportunities,” said Debbie Smith, senior advisor of strategic innovation at Easterseals Redwood. “We are excited to partner with Cincinnati Fear to provide an innovative and inclusive experience for students to explore future careers in esports-related fields.”
A limited number of scholarships are available for students to attend at no cost. Those interested can submit applications through the registration website.
Easterseals Redwood is also seeking 10 corporate partners in the fields of droning, cybersecurity and IT services to participate. Interested employers can contact Smith at dsmith@eastersealsredwood.org or 513-884-9818 for more information.
