The Carol Ann and Ralph V. Haile Jr. Foundation is returning to its roots with a move to downtown Covington, where its new headquarters will open in fall 2025 at the historic corner of Sixth and Madison streets.
The foundation’s new home — in the former People’s Liberty Bank building now named Ralph Haile Square — carries deep significance for the organization and the Haile family. Ralph Haile spent much of his professional life there, leading Peoples Liberty Bank and Trust Co. and helping shape Covington’s urban core.
“Mr. Haile’s former office will be converted into the foundation’s new board room, where the governing body of the foundation will evaluate and determine how best to carry out Mr. and Mrs. Haile’s legacy,” said Bernie McKay, the foundation’s president and CEO. “This is a homecoming in the best sense of the word.”
The Haile Foundation supports initiatives across the Tri-State region, with a focus on arts and culture, education, civic life and human services. Its leaders say the new headquarters will serve not only as an operational base, but also as a reflection of the foundation’s long-standing mission.
This relocation marks the foundation’s return to Northern Kentucky after years based in Cincinnati. The organization described the relocation as both practical and symbolic — a way to physically ground the organization in the community that shaped its founders.
Ralph Haile, a former Army Air Corps pilot, became known for his signature bow tie and civic involvement. Under his leadership, Peoples Liberty played a role in projects like Old Town Plaza, MainStrasse and the Licking Riverside neighborhood.
His wife, Carol Ann, was a dedicated supporter of arts and culture. She gave her time to causes she cared about and shared her husband’s belief in giving back through personal engagement and philanthropy.
