The Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky African American Chamber of Commerce has received the 2024 Research Impact Award from the University of Cincinnati’s Alpaugh Family Economics Center.
The award highlights a multi-year collaboration between the chamber and the Alpaugh Center to analyze the influence of Black-owned businesses in the Cincinnati area. The latest report, published in July 2024, found that these businesses contributed more than $2.8 billion to the local economy, supported 16,472 jobs and accounted for $635.1 million in wages.
On April 23, the chamber received the honor during the center’s annual ceremony, which highlights contributions to economic education and research across the region.
“We are honored to receive such a prestigious award from the Alpaugh Family Economics Center,” said Eric Kearney, president and CEO of the chamber. “This confirms the importance of research and data that Black businesses in Greater Cincinnati are growing and prosperous; these studies are proof.”
