A regional photo contest is offering a once-in-a-lifetime view from one of the area’s most iconic landmarks.
The Covington-Cincinnati Suspension Bridge Committee has opened submissions for its annual Roebling Bridge photography contest, which runs through July 31. Participants can enter original photos, short videos, AI-generated images or other digital art featuring the historic bridge.
Six winners will earn an exclusive one-hour trip to the top of the Roebling Bridge tower for a personalized photo shoot, an experience not open to the public.
Categories include youth, amateur and professional. Youth entries are free; adult participants pay a $25 entry fee.
“CCSBC promotes the photography contest as a vehicle to increase membership so we can educate the public about the iconic engineering significance and continue our efforts in illuminating the bridge and covering future operational costs,” said Sherry Roth, the nonprofit’s president.
Roth said the contest is both a creative outlet and a way for CCSBC to find new ways to grow support for preserving the landmark.
The all-volunteer organization helps maintain and enhance the Roebling Bridge, including its lighting system, flag installations and most recently QR codes that provide visitors with a digital history of the structure.
Funds raised from the contest support those efforts and promote the bridge’s continued preservation.
Public voting for a People’s Choice award will take place online Aug. 15-22. Winners will receive recognition Sept. 18 during a celebration at the Metropolitan Club in Covington.
