GCF reports record $187M in grants, commits to $1B regional investment

The Greater Cincinnati Foundation has published its 2024 annual report, highlighting a record $187 million in grants awarded to 3,865 organizations across the region last year.

These funds helped preserve and expand affordable housing, provide exceptional educational opportunities, support the arts and environment, uplift individuals and families, and much more. The 24-page document outlines those impacts through a mix of personal narratives, data and details about how philanthropy is shaping a brighter future for Greater Cincinnati.

“Thanks to this incredible community, 2024 has been a year of transformation – one that has propelled us forward in our shared mission to build a more vibrant region where everyone has an opportunity to thrive,” Ellen van der Horst, Governing Board chair, and Matthew Randazzo, GCF President and CEO, wrote in a joint statement.

Beyond the financial investments, GCF notes in the report that it’s working closely with stakeholders and the community to develop a strategic plan that sharpens focus on high-impact initiatives and lays out a roadmap for growth.

The report also reaffirmed the foundation’s commitment to invest $1 billion in the region over the next decade to meet growing community needs. Plans call for a broad restructuring of the organization, including new leadership hires, expanded national partnerships, and clear, measurable goals to track progress.

“We don’t see the future as something to wait for – we see it as something we build together,” the joint statement reads. “Thank you for your commitment, your generosity, and your partnership in building a stronger, more vibrant Greater Cincinnati region. Together, we are creating lasting change.”
