Since 2020, Cincinnati Animal CARE Humane Society has served as Hamilton County’s only stray, open-intake animal shelter. In just five years, CARE has redefined what sheltering looks like—maintaining a lifesaving save rate of over 90% while welcoming more than 20,000 animals through its doors.

As a no-kill shelter, the organization relies on a community-driven model: adopters, fosters, volunteers, and advocates who believe that every pet deserves a second chance. From innovative foster-to-adopt programs, to a robust volunteer corps, to partnerships with national leaders in animal welfare, CARE has earned a reputation for transparency, creativity, and compassion.
“Community engagement is at the heart of our work,” says Carolyn Evans, Executive Director. “We don’t just shelter animals—we build connections that keep pets and people together.”
Introducing Unleashed: The Power of Love
This fall, Cincinnati Animal CARE will host its first-ever signature fundraising event, Unleashed: The Power of Love, on Friday, October 3, 2025, at Rhinegeist Brewery.

The evening will celebrate five years of lifesaving work with an unforgettable program:
- Redemption Runway, featuring some of CARE’s most memorable alumni animals alongside their adopters.
- Silent and live auctions, filled with unique experiences and local treasures.
- Dinner by the bite from some of Cincinnati’s top restaurants, paired with craft beer and cocktails.
- A mission-driven program, spotlighting the impact of CARE’s work and the community that makes it possible.
- Emceed by Q102’s Mollie Watson, with keynote speaker: Tawny Hammond, National No Kill Advisor at Best Friends Animal Society.
- Funds raised from Unleashed will support CARE’s ongoing mission to provide shelter, safety, and second chances to Hamilton County’s homeless pets.
Tickets and sponsorships are available now at www.cincinnatianimalcare.org/unleashed.
