bi3 launches $5M grant program to strengthen connection to local youth

The bi3 Fund is inviting local nonprofits to pitch ideas for creating or reimagining community spaces where young people can feel more connected and supported. The fund is offering up to $5 million in grants to youth-serving organizations in Hamilton, Butler, Clermont and Warren counties.

The effort stems from research showing that many young people lack places where they feel they truly belong. Nationally, one in four youth report feeling disconnected, according to bi3.

In Greater Cincinnati, the Hopeful Empowered Youth (HEY!) needs assessment found that teens and young adults want more safe, welcoming spaces to meet, share experiences and build trust with adults.

Jill Miller, president and CEO of bi3

“Youth are telling us they feel disconnected from each other, from adults, and from their communities,” said Jill Miller, president and CEO of bi3, in a statement. “By listening to and empowering youth to shape the spaces around them, we can build a community where every young person feels seen, supported and that they belong.”

Nonprofits can apply for either planning grants ranging from $100,000 to $250,000 or larger implementation grants of $750,000 to $1.5 million. Planning funds help organizations build relationships with young people and design engagement strategies, while implementation grants support projects ready to launch youth-led efforts.

To keep youth voices at the center, a panel made up of local youth will evaluate submissions to ensure each project reflects the needs and priorities of their peers.

Letters of intent are due Dec. 3, with full proposals from invited applicants due March 12, 2026. Details and application materials are available at bi3.org.
