Social Venture Partners Cincinnati is accepting applications for the fifth cohort of Project XLR8, a business accelerator designed specifically for nonprofit organizations.
The program provides both unrestricted grant funding and hands-on business expertise from SVP’s network of partners to help nonprofits develop and scale innovative ideas that address community challenges.
SVP Cincinnati will host its final information session for interested organizations Thursday at 4 p.m.
“We want to encourage nonprofits to take risks and bring forward innovative ideas to address our community’s most urgent challenges,” said SVP Executive Director Lauren Merten.
XLR8ing nonprofit impact
SVP Cincinnati is a local chapter of a global network that strengthens nonprofits in Greater Cincinnati by combining financial and expert support. It operates as a venture philanthropy fund, providing nonprofits with time, expertise and money to increase their impact.
A key program is Project XLR8, an accelerator for innovative social ideas created by local nonprofits, offering training in strategic planning, finance and communications. It’s the only local business accelerator that focuses solely on nonprofits.
Project XLR8 progresses in three phases over eight months, and SVP awards unrestricted grant money to participating nonprofits at each phase of the program. Eligible 501(c)(3) organizations with a socially innovative idea may apply each year. SVP defines a socially innovative idea as one that enhances opportunity to create a more just, sustainable world through effective solutions rooted in the lived experiences of the people it serves.
In May, SVP Cincinnati selected A Force for Good, a Leadership Council for Nonprofits program, as its next long-term investee. As SVP’s REALIZE Phase Investee, the program will receive up to $20,000 annually for three years, along with hands-on support from SVP volunteers to help it scale.
Applications are due by midnight on Monday, Nov. 10. Anyone with questions should reach out to Merten at lauren@svpcincinnati.org.
