Tired of tangled holiday lights? Great Parks and Cohen Recycling can help you clear them out – and keep them out of landfills.
The Hamilton County park system’s annual holiday light recycling program runs Dec. 1 through Feb. 1. Residents can drop off lights at:
- Farbach-Werner Nature Preserve – Ellenwood Nature Barn
- Glenwood Gardens – Gatehouse
- Miami Whitewater Forest – Visitor Center
- Sharon Woods – Sharon Center
- Winton Woods – Winton Center, front and side lobbies
- Woodland Mound – Breezy Point Pavilion
The program accepts both LED and traditional string lights. Guests should place strands and wiring directly into the barrels at the drop-off sites. Please take any boxes or bags used to carry the lights with you and don’t leave them at the site.
The program accepts only holiday lights. The sites won’t accept other materials for recycling.
Great Parks and Cohen launched this initiative in 2014 to keep old and broken lights out of landfills and prevent toxic materials from contaminating soil and groundwater. Since then, residents and partners have recycled 48 tons of lights.
The program supports Great Parks’ conservation efforts across 18,000 acres of green space and 25 miles of riverfront.
